The short answer is they have the wrong focus. And they have the wrong focus because the person(s) who created the website does not know what the focus should be. For a website to produce results it has to be designed to be sales focused. For a website to be sales focused it should ideally be designed by (or at least have some input from) someone with expertise in online marketing and sales techniques. The focus and results that your website produces will be determined by the skill and knowledge of the people you engage to design it. Lets consider them. People with expertise in I.T (Information Technology) are highly skilled and trained in the technical aspects of I.T and they therefore make websites that are designed to function well. People with expertise in Graphic and Web design are highly skilled and trained in the aspects of graphic design and they therefore make websites that look good. People with expertise in online sales and marketing make websites that are designed to sell. If you want your car fixed you should use a mechanic – not a dentist. If you want your teeth fixed you should use a dentist – not a plumber. If you want your website to produce results you should use people with online sales and marketing expertise.
